DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DECEMBER 4:
LOS ANGELES TO BUENOS AIRES - Depart today from Los Angeles for your overnight flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Enjoy the all-inclusive luxury of Regent Seven Seas Cruises on this 11 day extensive tour that will explore the beautiful east coast of South America from Argentina to Brazil. Start with an overnight in Buenos Aires in a deluxe hotel. After sailing from Buenos Aires you'll enjoy an array of beautiful and interesting ports of call in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil, concluding with a night in Rio de Janeiro. SHORE EXCURSIONS ARE INCLUDED AT EVERY PORT OF CALL, insuring you will return with an abundance of unforgettable memories of South America.
DECEMBER 5: BUENOS AIRES - Upon arrival, you will be transferred to a luxury hotel. You have this evening and a full day tomorrow to enjoy the sights of this vibrant city. Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and one of the most important cities in Latin America. One of the most interesting attractions of Buenos Aires is its architecture. Its style reflects the influence of the Spaniards, French and Italians in its buildings and in its parks. Tango is performed to an artform in Argentina, so this evening you may want to make arrangements to attend one of their great shows.
DECEMBER 6: BUENOS AIRES - Today you will be transferred to the Regent Mariner. The ship doesn't sail until 6 PM, so you will have plenty of time to explore. Buenos Aires is made up of 47 neighborhoods called Porteños, each with their own local style. The nine Porteños with attractions that will be of most interest to you include La Boca, San Telmo, Monserrat, Puerto Madero, San Nicolás, Retiro, Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano.
DECEMBER 7: MONTEVIDEO - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, is a charming, cosmopolitan city, offering the visitor a taste of colonial days in the Ciudad Vieja, a choice of sandy beaches, cultural and artistic events and a pleasant climate. You may also want to venture just outside the city to the beautiful and highly regarded wine country of the Juanico Region for a wonderful winery tour.
DECEMBER 8: PUNTA DEL ESTE - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Spend the day enjoying this beautiful, chic beach resort, its marinas, museums and fascinating shops. Or venture into the equally picturesque countryside and visit a cattle station. Take a trip to Sea Wolves Island and view a colony of endangered sea lions and seals. Visit the 18th-century city of Maldonado with its many enchanting buildings, cathedral and lovely museum. Look for fine leather goods, jewelry and artwork. The choice is yours.
DECEMBER 9: RIO GRANDE - 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Explore this lovely old Portuguese city, its gracious squares and beautiful churches. Visit the Museum of Sacred Art and the fascinating Oceanographic Museum. Or see the vast pampas and feel the gaucho life on a local estancia. Take the opportunity to become immersed in the interesting culture of this charming community.
DECEMBER 10: FULL DAY AT SEA - A full day to enjoy the many amenities available to you on the beautiful Regent Mariner.
DECEMBER 11: PORTO BELO - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Once a small fishing village, Porto Belo was recently rediscovered by vacationing Brazilians drawn by the fabulous beaches here. The town itself is still quaint, but the surrounding waterfront communities are becoming larger and are the main reason to come. The beaches are beautiful and the surf is lukewarm year-round.
DECEMBER 12: SANTOS - 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Tropical, with the friendly air of a beach town, Santos percolates as the largest coffee port in Brazil. This charming city also has an extraordinary botanical garden including an Orchidarium with over 100 flower species and an aviary alive with macaws, toucans and parrots. You can also journey inland to vibrant Sao Paulo, the "Manhattan of Brazil", and see its modern skyscrapers and monuments, and visit the beautiful art museum.
DECEMBER 13: ILHI GRANDE - 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Some of Brazil's most gorgeous beaches and exotic rainforests can be found on the Ilha Grande. Ilha Grande boasts over 200 beaches and historically was a pirates hideaway. Enjoy exploring this beautiful island hiking its trails, kayaking, snorkeling, diving to spectacular sites or simply relaxing on its gorgeous beaches. Savor the dense Atlantic forest, the birds, flowers, iguanas, monkeys and myriad wildlife found in this protected reserve.
DECEMBER 14: BUZIOS - 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The tiny fishing village of Búzios is considered one of the ten most beautiful spots in the world. The village burst into prominence when French actress Brigitte Bardot visited here in her heyday (there's a statue of her looking out to sea on the Orla Bardot). Today, this once sleepy village is an international resort -- St. Tropez, with a unique Brazilian beat. Búzios offers some of South America's most attractive beaches. Indeed, you could lounge on one magnificent beach each hour of the day, sipping a delicious caipirinhas of course.
DECEMBER 15: RIO DE JANEIRO - 8:00 AM for a full day and overnight stay. There's a little bit of Carnival celebrated here everyday. From its famous beaches to its iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer, Rio radiates an air of exuberance that is hard to find anywhere else. Make the scene on trendy Ipanema or take a cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain and enjoy the amazing views. Sway your hips to the rhythm at a samba show or enjoy the tranquility of king Dom João VI's Botanical Gardens and verdant Tijuca Forest.
DECEMBER 16: RIO DE JANEIRO - After breakfast this morning you will disembark the Mariner for your transfer to Rio's International Airport and your flight home. Memories truly are made from a wonderful adventure like this.
